The Philoxian Animal Haven was Canada's 105th official zoo and was well respected by even the staunchest animal rights activists for its humanitarian care and holistic healing and feeding methods.
Philoxia was home to an accredited professional exotic animal haven,,, having pet lions, tigers and a bear,,, including the tiger used to swat at Mel's butt in the ‘Bird on a Wire' movie,,, on to wallaby's,,, a camel,,, deer,,, wolves, and five species of monkeys who were rescued from lab experiments. Talk about real ‘Ding Bats',,, and so much more.
A movie star mama to Zarak
Ira and Dobbs lived at Philoxia Community and were the primary caretakers of the tigers. Zarok was born at Philoxia as raised as a vegetarian tiger. All tigers were converted to a vegetarian diet.
Haji,,, raised from young,,, would climb and crawl to the edge of the hill (background) and toboggan down with the children.
Oso,,, a large brown bear came to Philoxia in extremely poor condition,,, given only a short time to live,,, the Philoxians nursed him back to health through diet and natural herbal medicines.
Oso lived out his life as a happy and healthy bear here at Philoxia.
