Bee
Pollen: Food fit for God's Children
Bee pollen has
been used as a nutritional food source long before mankind had
to plant, till and kill for their food. Great praise and
reverence is given to the bee and its life giving products in
almost every religious and historical record composed, including
that of the Maya, Egyptian and Eastern glyphs.
So, what’s
all the buzz about? Well, it has been well documented that
adding bee pollen to your diet supports virtually every body
system, with emphasis on the reproductive, immune and nervous
systems. In fact, scientific studies have demonstrated that bee
pollen is a complete food, thus a human adult can, indeed, live
on this life giving nectar and water alone!
Who can benefit
from eating bee pollen? Everyone, young and old alike.
Whether it is
to treat specific health issues, or just for overall health, bee
pollen helps to correct imbalances in our body’s chemistry and
satisfy our nutritional needs.
The nutrients
in Bee Pollen are very concentrated. This nutritional density
means that even small amounts provide effective and valuable
levels of important nutrients. In other words, bee pollen, as a
food source or as a supplement, provides low volume,
high-density nutrition.
Bee
pollen contains a wide array of vitamins,
minerals
and nutritional components:
Rich in
B-vitamins, including B-1, B-2, B-3 (Niacinamide), B-5, B-6 and
B-12.
Also contains
Vitamin C, A, E, Carotenoids, Folic Acid and Rutin*.
Mineral content
includes Magnesium, calcium, copper, iron, silica, phosphorus,
sulfur, chlorine and manganese.
Higher in
protein and free amino acid content, by volume, than any other
source of food on the planet.
Rich in enzymes
and co-enzymes that are necessary for good digestion.
Contains
polyphenols, beneficial fatty acids, chelated minerals, as well
as a large array of phytonutrients not fully identified yet.
Also includes
gonadotropic, estrogenic, and Human Growth Hormone factors.
*Rutin
~ Bee pollen is known for its high rutin levels, which helps to
support cardiovascular health by strengthening blood cell walls,
capillaries and also the heart itself. Even if bee pollen was
without its many other health benefits, its content of rutin
alone would justify taking at least a teaspoon daily, if for no
other reason than its revitalizing affect on ones’
cardiovascular health.
Antioxident
~ Bee pollen is not only an excellent antioxidant, it is proven
in clinical tests to effectively reduce the threat of free
radicals resulting from everyday pollutants, but also has
received acclaim as an anti-aging tonic and assisting with
weight control.
Weight Balance
~ Bee Pollen has a two-fold effect on persons wishing to lose
weight. It is an excellent snack food in between meals, as it
satisfies the body’s nutritional needs. It is particularly
beneficial to consume a tsp. or so ½ hour prior to meals, as it
is most readily absorbed on an empty stomach, while quenching
pre-meal hunger pains at the same time.
What is Bee
Pollen?
Bee pollen is
actually flower pollen and nectars, it just happens to be
collected and made available exclusively by bees. There is no
other creature, including man, who can replicate the amazing
process that is accomplished so simply by the lil’ bee.
While the bee
is on the flower, it collects the pollen, mixes it with some of
the nectars found within and shapes it into little balls of many
varied sizes and colours.
If you look at
our bee pollen, you will see the colours range from light
beige-gold’s to bright yellows, soft gold’s, deep oranges
and a variety of greens to browns. This amazing variety of
colours and tastes is simply a reflection of all the different
flowers in that particular area where it is harvested. Our
pollen is sourced in a pesticide free area which has not been
cultivated or farmed for over 15 years.
Collecting of
Bee Pollen:
Bees carry
these lil’ pollen balls back to the hive on their legs.
Beekeepers who harvest bee pollen place a small strip with
little brushes across the hive entrance. As the bee enters the
hive, some of the pollen is simply ‘brushed’ off their legs.
This is only done every two or three days because bee pollen is
the primary food of the bee and they must have an ample portion
to live and maintain their hive.
Directions for
Use:
Bee pollen is
an amazing, condensed, powerful, complete food and should be
used souly with this in mind. You will know within 3 ~ 5 days
whether or not your body really likes it and wants more.
Begin by
introducing bee pollen to your diet in small amounts and
gradually work up to a larger dosage. Start with ½ tsp. two to
three times a day. This can be increased to a tsp. at a time 4
– 6 times a day.
Because our
pollen tastes so good, we prefer to eat it from the palm of our
hand right into our mouth. If you let it dissolve and mix with
your saliva you can taste the nectars and the pollens, , , or
just chew it up. Eating pollen in this way allows you to
appreciate some of the finest flavours imaginable, although,
occasionally you may encounter a very pungent or bitter taste,
as some of these green and brown pollens come from various
herbs, which have medicinal tastes similar to their herbal
equivalents. This is actually homeopathy at its finest.
If eating it
straight up isn’t for you, bee pollen can be sprinkled on
yogurt, peanut butter& honey on toast, breakfast cereal or
blended in any variety of smoothies. Pheylonian Pollen is
actually quite tasty alone, due to the purity of the region
where it is harvested. At least give it a few tries, it is an
acquired taste which can become addictive.
For most
people, there is no maximum amount to restrict its use. On
occasions I have eaten up to 3 – 4 tbls. a day. Tests have
proven that a human can live on nothing more then just bee
pollen and water for an indefinite period of time.
A Note of
Caution:
Many who suffer
from airbourne pollen allergies, should use bee pollen with
caution, initially consuming it in very small amounts, only a
few grains at a time. These nectorial pollens are assimilated
differently than the airbourne pollens from plants, which can
cause allergies. If you have no allergic reactions, increase the
amount slowly to the above recommendations. If any allergic
symptoms result from taking a tiny amount of pollen, discontinue
use. Allergic reactions can also be due to poor quality pollen,
or unclean extraction, so if you have identified bee pollen as
your key to health, be sure to try our pure, Private Stock
Pheylonian Bee Pollen, as you can not get better.
Gout
~ Anyone who suffers from gout should not take bee pollen, as it
may elevate purine levels.
